Firstly, I would like to thank all of the parents and athletes for such a warm welcome as Boys Team Manager – you have all made my job much easier!

Report by Craig Emmerson:
Sunday the 22nd of May saw Bedford & County’s senior Men and Women open their Southern athletics league campaign at Hemel Hempstead. After a reasonable start to the season in the First NAL match, Team managers Craig Emmerson an Emma Coombes had hoped that a solid team performance would really kick start the season for the seniors. However it wasn’t to be quite to be.
Congratulations to Dan Jarvis, who broke the club's 3000m Steeplechase Record in the Diamond League at Birmingham on 21st May. Dan's new mark is 8:37.58.
Sam Winters, 1:51.50 (PB), 6th in BMC A race.
Lauren Nichols, 2:20.34, 9th in race 8.
Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire both staged their county championships recently, and Bedford and County athletes competed at both events. There was only a partial field programme at the Cambridgeshire championships due to lack of officials. Those field events not held on Saturday will be held at open meetings in June.
The youngest members of the junior section of the club took part in a very tough first YDL Match at Bedford on 8th May as part of Team Bedfordshire, a composite team with Biggleswade, Leighton Buzzard and Luton. We were up against some extraordinarily strong teams from Basildon, Brighton and Hove, Croydon, Herne Hill and Medway and Maidstone.
Congratulations to Alan Turnbull, who set a new M55 10 mile club road best of 57m 20s at Dereham on 15 May - this is Alan's third M55 club road best since the beginning of April.
