Congratulations to two athletes who set new masters club records at the Eastern Masters League Final in Milton Keynes on Saturday 25th September. They were:
Congratulations to Etienne Maughan who won the U17 Girls 80 M hurdles representing England at the Schools International match against Scotland, Ireland and Wales in Derby on 25th September. Etienne ran a stunning race to finish more than four tenths of a second ahead of second place in a time of 11.04 seconds – a time which ranks her 2nd in the UK this year, and 7th on the UK U17 all-time rankings. It was also a new Bedford and County Under 17 record, breaking Etienne's own mark from earlier this year.

Now that athletics is back in full swing there are a number of notable performances to record.
Congratulations to Ellie Garraway, who broke two W45 club records at the SAL at Bedford on 11th September: the 800m with a time of 2m 34.1, and the 1500m with a time of 5m 19.0.
Congratulations to Stephen Simmons, who won gold in the English Schools Decathlon Championships at Bedford on the weekend of 18th and 19th September. Stephen also broke the club's under 20 Decathlon record with a score of 6710 points.
Well done to the Bedford and County athletes who took part in the South of England U15/U20 Inter Counties Championships at Horspath, Oxford on 11th September. The Bedford results were as follows:
The club’s young athletes travelled to Cambridge for the last EYAL match of the season on Sunday 12th September. In the sunshine they finished a brilliant 3rd (348 pts) behind Cambridge and Coleridge (373 pts) and winners Bedfordshire Lions (394).
Congratulations to Mark Burgman, who broke his own M65 club pole vault record with a height of 2.60 metres at the SAL at Bedford on 11th September.
The funeral of former club President and long-time member, Ron Sullivan, will take place at Norse Road Crematorium Chapel, Bedford on Thursday 16th September at 12.15 pm. The family have asked for flowers only from family members, but donations may be made to the British Heart Foundation c/o Clarabut and Plumbe Funeral Directors, 11 Kingsway, Bedford, MK42 9BJ.
