There was more medal success for Bedford & County’s endurance athletes at the Eastern AA Cross Country Championships on Saturday 19th November. Held at Southill Park estate, the regional championships were greeted with cool temperatures, grey skies and persistent rain. The inclement weather combined with an uneven tussocky course and long distances made the races a genuine cross country challenge.
Congratulations to Leanne Buxton, who set a new W40 club record of 28.77m for the Discus at the Southern League Match at Bedford on 10th September (and thank you to Graeme Packman for spotting it!).
Two Bedford & County masters athletes, Andrew Leach M55 & Simon Coombes M50, represented England at the British and Irish Open International Cross Country Event held on Saturday 12 November in Dublin. Both athletes were members of their respective gold medal winning teams.
The second round of this season's Chiltern League took place at Teardrop Lakes, Milton Keynes on Saturday 12 November. There were Division 1 wins for Ben Alcock in the Senior Men's race, Rebecca Murray in the Senior Women's race, and Harry Scott in the Under 15 Boys race, and second places for Harry Brodie (Senior Men), and Oliver Wilson (Under 15 boys).
The Senior Men's team finished 3rd, as did the Veteran Men's team. The Under 15 Boys' team won their match and also have the overall lead after 2 matches, and the Senior Women's team also won their match.

Results from the National Cross Country Relays at Mansfield on Saturday 6th December:
The Bedford & County junior boys endurance squad had a good turnout at the National Cross Country Relays, fielding 4 teams across the age groups. Held at the traditional venue of Berry Hill Park, Mansfield, the weather was reasonably kind with only light rain and cool temperatures making for high quality racing throughout the day.
Congratulations to Glen Kerr and Dave Folgate, who have set new masters club records. Glen broke the M45 Hammer record with a throw of 48.31m at Hull on 15th October. Dave's records date from 2021, but have just been recognised - 1.25m for the M70 High Jump, and 19.62m for the M70 Javelin.
