Many congratulations to our Life Vice-President, Paula Radcliffe on receiving an OBE for services to sport in the New Year Honours List.

Congratulations to Lois Fordham on setting a new U17W Pole Vault record (both indoors and overall) at the Bedford Invitation Meet on Sunday 21 December, setting a new height of 3.12m.

The 45^th edition of the annual Christmas Handicap was staged on Sunday. The “race”, looping the Embankment, raised £675 for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of club stalwart Pete Dancer. Isabelle took first place in the handicap with Jack Goodwin fastest man (14:08) with Lucy James and Molly Blizard joint fastest ladies (17:03).

Congratulations to Sophia Wing, who has broken the U15 300m indoor club record at the Lee Valley Open on 7th December, recording a time of 44.05 secs. Sophia hopes to lower her time in the 300m again this winter.

Bedford & County enjoyed a successful night at the 2025 Bedford Borough Sports Awards with five of the fifteen nominations receiving recognition.

Congratulations to Sam Winters who won the MK Winter Half Marathon at the weekend in a new PB of 68:27, winning by over 2 minutes.

Campbell Park was the scene for one of the hardest Cross-Country courses in the South of England so far this year, a wet and windy day awaited our athletes with great performances across the age groups. Special mentions to Imogen, Fraser, Oliver and Mackenzie who won their respective races convincingly. A big well done to all the athletes competing in their first race for the club.

Bedford & County Athletics Club celebrated their Annual Awards Evening on 21 November 2025. The celebration honoured retrospective winners from 2019-2023, who missed out on receiving their awards due to Covid, as well as 2025 winners. The event took place at the Bedford International Athletics Stadium with the awards being presented by Ryan Apps Great Britain Rugby 7s Player who was also a Bedford & County member.

A few of our runners travelled to Sefton Park in Liverpool on Saturday to take part in the Cross Challenge xc race that doubled as the qualifiers for the European Cross Country Championships next month. 

Standout performances for Bedford & County include U15 boys Fraser and Oliver who came 8th and 10th respectively in their race.

Congratulations to Ed Blythman on his PB of 30:25 for 18^th place in a high quality field at the Fulham 10k last Sunday.

Oxford City AC organised the 2^nd Chiltern League Match, held at Horspath, Oxford on the 15^th November. The course, still reeling from the after-effects of Storm Claudia was wet and boggy, which came to suit many of our athletes. The performance of the afternoon on the men’s side goes to U17 Oliver W, who came 2^nd place and only 5 seconds away from winning the U17 men’s race.  Meanwhile in the Senior Women Rebecca M won by an impressive 45 seconds overall.
