On another good evening, Bedford hosted the latest round of the EMAC Masters League. The evening started with the now customary wins for Adam Hills and John Borgas in the 1500m walk, well done lads you are currently undefeated.
In the field events there was also a great start with Glen Kerr M35 & Darren Kerr M50 winning their events with Graeme packman securing a strong 3rd place in the M60 category. The pole vault competition - the first of the season - gave B&CAC another two wins from Bob Kingman M35 and Simon Eastwood M50.
On the track there were solid performances from Tenny James, 1st in the 100 and 400m M60 category, Pete Benedickter was 4th the M50 100m and 3rd in the M35 400m, and Pete Webster running a season opening 400m N/S M50. Phil Bowers (M50) gave a another strong performance over the evening running the M35 100m, and winning the Triple Jump M35, he was supported well by Dave Folgate (M70) in the Triple jump, who too competed out of age group, to finish 3rd in the M50 category. The 1500m saw two debutants racing: Jim Black (M50) stood in at short notice to run the in M35 race, and Paul Gooding (yes Plod) ran an admiral sub 6:00 minutes in the M60 race. Simon Coombes ran a classic race to run the fastest time of the evening 04.20.40 to win the M50 Race.
The evening rounded off with Damien Larrington (M35), Darren Kerr (M50) and Graeme packman (M60) winning their shot events - well dome boys!
The last events were the two relays, where B&C AC fielded two M50 teams, the M50 Race Team of Tenny J, Pete B, Lance C and Steve B finished 2nd behind a very strong MKAC Team.
The provisional Results show Bedford finished 2nd on 151 points behind MKAC on 159 points, but hold on to first place in the league with 457 points just 1 point ahead of MKAC.
The Final round of league matches before we see who meets who in the Final takes place on Wednesday 2 August at Sandy Track and is being hosted by Biggleswade AC.
