A group of the club's masters athletes made the trip to Derby for the British Masters Championships last weekend , 20th - 22nd August. Tenny James starred, winning gold in the M60 100m Hurdles, Silver in the M60 400 and Bronze in the M60 200.
Mark Burgman won the M65 Pole Vault and equalled his own club record in the process. Penny Butcher came away with a Gold in the W60 High Jump, and threw 17.78 in the Javelin, and Will MacGee collected Bronzes in both the M50 100m and the M50 200m. Although not medal winning performances, Oriana Johnson set new records in the W60 Shot Putt and the Discus. And Penny Butcher set a new record in the W60 80m Hurdles. Graeme Packman came close to a medal in two events, finishing 4th in both the M65 shot and the M65 discus. Two athletes who are second claim members also came away with wins: Richard Phelan won the M60 Pole Vault, and Dave Folgate won the M70 Long Jump and M70 Triple Jump, equalling the UK record in the latter.
