This year has seen the establishment of Bedford and County’s Wheelchair Racing section. Youngsters Varun Bandi and Hugo Cracknell, who are fourteen and fifteen respectively have shown great promise for the future.

On 28th April, Varun raced to an excellent third place in the London Mini-Marathon, clocking 19:51. He has also set PBs of 21.84 for 100m, 44.88 for 200m, 84.56 for 400m, and 6:35 for the mile. On Saturday 26th October, Varun sliced more than a minute off of his Park Run best, finishing the Bedford event in 21:58.

Hugo only began racing in recently, but won his very first race, over 100m at Biggleswade, on 28th September, and ends the season with a 100m PB of 27.05. Well done to Varun and Hugo on their achievements in their inaugural year of racing, and congratulations to all of those who have got the Wheelchair Racing section off of the ground.
