Bedford & County enjoyed a successful night at the 2025 Bedford Borough Sports Awards with five of the fifteen nominations receiving recognition.
Howard Darbon a member since 1977, a past chairman and founder and manager of the Bedford Wheelchair Racing won the prestigious accolade “Service to Sport” for his very many years of devoted service.
Wheelchair Racer Tammy Harrison was voted the Junior Disabled Sports Personality of the Year; whilst pole-vaulter Lois Fordham received a special commendation in the very strong Junior Personality of the Year section.
Darren Kerr was awarded the title of Coach of the Year, also against very strong opposition which included Simon Eastwood who received a special commendation.
The club were very strong contenders for the Club of the Year, but were beaten to it by Star Rowing Club who had a fantastic year.
Other nominations included the Wheelchair Racing Team as well as its Coaching Team of Zoe Luscombe, Michael Blunt and Sharmila Harman; Wheelchair Racer Sean Chigumba; the U17 Men’s Endurance Squad: and athletes Glen Kerr, Mia Flynn, Zaphaniah Bryan, Thaila- Jade Mason and Fraser Williams.
