In December of last year Bedford and County AC were successful in our application for Gamechangers Funding. 

To date we have used this funding to support ten of our members to become Coaching Assistants. Their enthusiastic input to Beagles has been inspirational and several of these young club members will shortly also act as coaching assistants in Beagles Plus. 

At the end of each Beagles term, the views of these assistant coaches are captured at ‘Young Coaches Meetings’ by the senior coaches running Beagles such that learnings can be rapidly translated into improvements to Beagles. 

In addition, Frankie Johnson, club Youth Ambassador will shortly start visiting local schools to talk with pupils about the positive role that athletics has played in his life. 

Over 50% of club members are under-18 years old. It is really important that the views of these members are captured. In this regards on the 30th of April a Youth Forum will be held at the club after training to record their views of the club structure, athlete pathways etc.

Finally, the Gamechangers funding will also support x6 club volunteers to attend Officials Courses (x2 track, x2 field and x2 timekeepers). An announcement on course dates will be made shortly.
