The Hammer Circle Reunion is an annual end-of-season gathering that brings together athletes, coaches and enthusiasts who share a passion for hammer throwing. Around 70 people attended across the Saturday and Sunday, with Bedford athletes enjoying a hugely successful weekend and taking home a cartload of silverware.
Mia endured a shaky start to the weekend, recording six fouls on Saturday. However, she bounced back brilliantly overnight to produce the finest series of her career on Sunday. With three throws beyond 53 metres, she smashed her personal best with a superb 54.69m to claim victory in the girls’ U16/18 competition. Her outstanding performance also earned her the award for Best Overall Performance of the Weekend, beating athletes across all age groups and securing a cash prize to round off a memorable weekend.
Glen signed off his 2026 campaign in equally impressive fashion, recording a season’s best of 56.72m in the hammer to consolidate his position as the UK's No. 1 ranked M50 thrower.
Not content with that, he produced an exceptional series in the weight throw, breaking the 18-metre barrier for the first time. Along the way, he recorded three successive personal bests, eventually launching the weight out to a magnificent 18.43m.
Glen concludes the 2026 season ranked 6th and 8th in the world in the hammer and weight throw respectively, bringing another outstanding year of competition to a fitting close.
A fantastic finale to the season for Bedford's throwers, with personal bests, national rankings and international recognition providing plenty to celebrate!
