Two of our wheelchair racing coaches, Zoe Luscombe and Michael Blunt have been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship. This is a Rotary award that recognises people who have made a significant contribution to the community, and is rarely given to non-Rotarians. This was presented to them by Rotary at the recent Bar-B-Q held after training. The Wheelchair Racing section of the club set up a supporters group a few years ago to assist and advise on matters that can help further development. It comprises parents section members and Rotarians.
Bella Luckett will be attending her first England Athletics youth development programme at Loughborough next weekend. She is the third member to have received an invitation - Varun Bandi and Sean Chigumba have previously been selected.
Bedford Wheelchair Racing achieved a second place in the recent Tesco Grants programme and consequently have been awarded £1000. Thanks to those who voted for us! The money will be used to purchase a new set of rollers to enable warm-ups at meetings and also indoor training when the weather is inclement.
