  • Milly Dunger: U17W 3000m - 8th - 10:07.28
  • Sadie Werrett: U17W Javelin - 5th - 38.52m

Team Manager, Dennis Johnson, provides some detail about the medal-winning performances:

"The Bedfordshire Schools team was captained by Alex Alston  and Gracie Wall, who struck gold and silver, whilst Euan Supple brought home a bronze.

Alex, the UK number one, moved into a lead after a lap of the Senior Boys 2000m Steeplechase and was never headed, gradually drawing away from the field to win in an outstanding personal best time of 5m 51.26 seconds. His next target is the UK U20 trials, where he is aiming for a place in the UK team for the World Junior Championships.

Gracie, also ranked UK number one, secured the silver medal and a coveted place in the in the England team for the Schools International being held in Dublin the following weekend. Her clearance at 1.74 metres, just 1cm shy of her personal best, was the same as the eventual winner, but Gracie’s single failure on her first attempt at 1.68m proved costly under the count-back rule.

Meanwhile, Euan was having a battle of his own in the Inter Boys 1500m Steeplechase. Wisely ignoring the fast early pace he gradually moved through the field to a position with 250m to go where he could strike out for 3rd place, making it his own. Euan cut a huge nine seconds off his personal best finishing in 4minutes 31.68 seconds and gaining selection as reserve for the Dublin international."
