The Eastern Athletic Association’s cross-country championships came to Keysoe on Saturday 16th November. After a busy schedule this month that included a bronze medal at the National Cross Country relays and a tough British Cross Challenge the previous week, most of Bedford and County AC’s Senior and Under 20 Men’s team were taking a well-earned rest.
And so the spotlight turned to the clubs other runners, who didn’t disappoint.
Bedford and County had four individual champions: Josie Smith won the Senior Women’s race; Tia Wilson followed up her excellent third place in the British Cross Country Challenge with victory in the Under 20 Women’s race. Natalie Simmons won the Under 15 Girls race, and Cameron Barnes won the Under 13 Boys race. Elsewhere, Simon Coombs flew the flag for the masters, finishing second in the gruelling Senior Men’s race, Emma Smith got the Bronze in the Under 20 Women’s event, as did Noah Campion in the Under 15 Boys race. And Maddison Webb clinched the silver in the Under 15 Girls race. Bedford and County did not have an individual winner in the under 13 Girls race, but Lily Farr and Rosie Foster finished second and third respectively. The club was also victorious in the Senior Women’s, Under 17 Women’s, Under 15 Girls’ and Under 13 Girls’ team events. The Under 13 Boys’ and Under 17 Men’s teams came second, and the Under 15 Boys’ team finished third. The focus now shifts to the third round of the Chiltern League Cross-Country, which takes place in Luton on 7th December.
